three amigos

We met up with Hailey's new friends Gabby & Brody (one of the three sets of twins she has in her class) at the childrens museum.  These three get a long great!

funny face

Hailey likes to play with my old 35mm camera.  She goes around taking pics of things...but mostly of us saying, "make silly faces" or "say cheese" then shows us it on the back of her cam.  I think I know what Santa is bringing her this Christmas.

randoms

I've been bad about taking pictures lately, but managed to scrounge up a few randoms from the past couple of weeks.

2nd ~ first day of preschool

Today was the true test, and little miss passed with flying colors!  We had been preparing Hailey all weekend for what was to come today.  I told her that I would be leaving her by herself today for 2 hours and while I was gone I was going to go get a pedicure (thanks Jane for the great idea) and I'd be back to get her.  I'm happy to say there were no tears shed, by either of us.  Well that's not entirely true.  While I was soaking my feet in the foot bath the nice lady noticed that I needed to shave my legs and suggested I have them waxed.  She sold me on the fact that I won't have to shave for 4-5 weeks!  In the moment I thought it was a brilliant idea... but that soon changed while I was laying on the table a sweaty mess, eyes welling up with tears.  All I could think is "this was supposed to be a relaxing 2 hrs... what.the.hell.was I thinking!?!"
Meanwhile, at school apparently Hailey was the teachers pet by volunteering things when Miss Carol asked and having a good ole' time.  She also made a new friend named Lily... who likes to hug a lot.  One of the Mom's mentioned that Hailey seemed uncomfortable with this and that Lily might have been squeezing kind of hard.  Since Hailey loves a good hug, I knew something else was up.  This weekend we talked a lot about what she did at school and one of them was the 3 rules Miss Carol has enforced; "no touching other people's bodies" is one of them.  So my guess was that Hailey was probably thinking "umm, we are breaking the rules" and was a little nervous that she was going to get in trouble.  When I asked Hailey if Lily was hugging her too hard she said no.  I asked "were you worried because of the rules" without hesitation she said "Yes, NO touching!"  I sure love my little rule follower.

first day of preschool

Hailey's first day was a success, she made me so proud.  It's slow start week, so only 6 of the 18 kids were there today.  It was so much fun to watch her interact with the other kids and respond to Miss Carol's instructions.  Monday will be the true test as I'll be leaving her for 2 hours.  I have mixed feelings about this, but one thing I know is that... I'm going to cry.

swim lessons.

Hailey had her first swim lesson today.  No more "mommy & me" classes for this big girl.  I had this fear that I was going to have to drag her into the pool kicking & screaming because I wasn't going in with her.  She once again, reminded me today that I tend to get myself all worked up for no reason.  Long story short, she couldn't get into the pool fast enough and didn't care who was going with her.  I sat there watching her by the side of the pool, her little legs dangling in the water, waiting... patiently.  A zillion things were running through my head.  About 5 minutes into the lesson I turned to Joe and he informed me that I had a nervous giggle & seemed very tense.  I rolled my eyes as if he were crazy, at the same time nonchalantly trying to relax my shoulders that seemed to be holding a ton of bricks.  I couldn't have been more prepared to jump in that pool at any moment, to save my baby girl!  Joe saw right through my eye rolling and reasured me that she was in only 3ft of water & was just fine.  I hate when he's right.  Hailey is much more enthusiastic about swim class than she was about soccer.  Looking forward to watching her learn skills that will be so very useful for our trip to Mexico in November!
